Property Taken From A Fort Payne Home Recovered During A Traffic Stop, Suspect Arrested On Drug/Theft Charges

A Sanders Avenue resident in Fort Payne reported to Fort Payne Police that numerous items had been stolen from his front porch.

According to Fort Payne Police Chief Randy Bynum, on Monday, March 11 the resident stated while he was in his yard, he observed a white female driving a Nissan Frontier pull in front of his residence. The home owner stated to officers the female started removing items from his front porch. 

The owner reported the items taken were a Husqvarna pole saw; a 24” drum fan, a DeWalt circular saw, Echo leaf blower, hedge trimmer, an ice cream freezer and a bag of Kingsford charcoal.

On Saturday, a traffic stop of a person possibly driving under the influence of impairment led to the arrest of Sunny Bridget Kay, age 38 of Fort Payne.

Chief Bynum stated Kay was charged with DUI, Possession of Marijuana 2nd, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Promoting Prison Contraband.

While officers were inventorying the vehicle, items were discovered that matched the description of items taken from the Sanders Avenue theft.

Arrest warrants were obtained on Kay for Theft of Property 2nd, a Felony Bynum stated.

The investigation continues and more charges are pending. Chief Bynum would like to congratulate officers Lt, Matt Wilson, Sgt Rafael Cruz, and Patrolman Murphy Pine for recognizing the items as possibly the items taken from Sanders Avenue.
