Rebecca Lynn Price Sentenced in Manslaughter Case Involving Fatal 2015 Auto Accident

Rebecca Lynn Price of Centre was sentenced Wednesday (January 9th) – in connection with an auto accident which claimed the life of another Cherokee County resident just over three years ago.  Price entered a guilty plea in Cherokee County court on November 2nd last year (2018) to a charge of Criminally Negligent Homicide as a lesser included Offense of Manslaughter.  As outlined in that agreement, Price was sentenced to 12 months – split to serve 10 months in the County Jail – after which, she will be allowed to attend a residential treatment facility for the final two months.  That, to be followed by 24 months probation.

She must also pay court costs plus restitution in an amount to be determined.  A Restitution Hearing has been set for February 13th (2019) at 9:00am.

The at-the-time 20 year old was indicted in November of 2016 by a Cherokee County Grand Jury on a Manslaughter charge, in connection with an auto accident occurring on November 12th, 2015 – which claimed the life of 25 year old Lani Michelle Wilkerson-Hall of Centre.  According to reports the wreck took place at 5:29am when Hall’s vehicle, a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse, was involved in a head-on collision with a 2004 Jeep Liberty being driven by Price.  Hall was pronounced dead at the scene, and a two year old child in her vehicle was taken to Floyd Medical Center in Rome for treatment. 

That crash occurred on Highway 411, approximately one mile south of the Georgia line.

Price currently remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center.
