A Reece City Fire Department engine was heavily damaged after being struck while firefighters were working an accident on I-59 on Monday morning.

Chief Joel Boggs said the incident happened while they were doing traffic control at the scene of a vehicle accident on I-59 at the 195 mile marker north bound.

No firefighters were injured but there was one fatality in the vehicle that struck the fire truck.

Remember, Alabama does have a Move Over Law, the law requires drivers to move over a lane when they see something like a police car, emergency vehicle, tow truck, or even a garbage truck parked on the side of the road while personnel do their job.

The first violation will cost you $100, $150 for the second, and $200 for the third or any subsequent violations.
