Nearly a month after human remains were found in the eastern portion of Floyd County – a positive identification has been made.

According Floyd County Coroner Barry Henderson, Dr. Sandra Thomas – Associate Medical Examiner with the GBI Division of Forensic Science, has determined that the body found on March 27th (2015), off of Everwood Court in Floyd County, is that of Ashley Nycole Jones.

Identification was facilitated by dental records obtained from a local oral and facial surgery practice upon information given to this office by her family.

The cause and manner of death are still pending.

Floyd County Police stated last month that there was a strong possibility the remains were those of Jones, who was reported missing by her family in February.

Her body was located within walking distance of where she was last seen alive.
