The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call just across the Alabama State Line on Saturday afternoon after a man says that someone fired a shot while he was walking in the woods on his property.

The incident happened on Cherokee County Road 103 between Mt. Calvary Church and Cloudland.  Richard Edwards said that he was walking around his property tagging trees that needed cutting when he saw a white male suddenly stand up in the woods and take off running.  Edwards told a responding deputy that he had heard a gunshot a short time before he saw the man run.  Mr. Edwards wanted to file a report for future reference.
