Residents Left Without Power After A Transformer Catches Fire In Gaylesville

Residents in the northern portion of Cherokee County were left without power on Sunday morning after a transformer reportedly caught fire at a location on Main Street near Mimosa Lane in Gaylesville.

Gaylesville Firefighters and Cherokee Electric crews were called to the scene. We received numerous reports of the power being along Highway 35 in Gaylesville to several locations on Highway 9 north in Cedar Bluff.

Power was restored in under two hours after Co-Op crews were able to make the necessary repairs.
