According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office held a retirement reception this week in honor of Sgt. Gene Knowles. The reception took place at the County’s Administrative Building on Thursday afternoon and was well attended by fellow co-workers, county employees, friends and family.
Probate Judge Tim Burgess spoke at the reception and recognized Sgt. Knowles for his years of commitment to Cherokee County. Sheriff Shaver presented him with a retirement watch and plaque from the Sheriff’s Office and remarked how the Sheriff’s Office will miss Gene and thanked him for his service and friendship.
Knowles served as a corrections officer, deputy sheriff, narcotics investigator, and was promoted to patrol sergeant in 2017.
