Rising Tide of COVID-19 Cases Main Topic of Monday’s Cherokee County Commission Meeting

The main focus by the Cherokee County Commission during their Monday morning meeting was on dealing with, and hopefully stemming, the tide of rising numbers of COVID-19 cases here in the county.

EMA Director Shawn Rogers informed those in attendance that our number of active cases is now at its highest level adding he and Probate Judge/Commission Chairman Tim Burgess will be discussing the possible impact the rising numbers could have on local governmental operations:

Rogers went on to put things in perspective:

When asked by Commissioner Randy Jones if he’d been in touch with Superintend Guice, or the school system in general, this was Rogers’ reply:

Cherokee County has two locations offering testing – the County Health Department, at 877 Cedar Bluff Road in Centre, and Main Street Urgent Care at 1925 West Main Street in Centre.
