A police pursuit that began early Thursday morning in Rome ended near the Inland plant in Coosa after the vehicle police were chasing crashed.
According to Captain Roy Willingham of the Rome Police Department, police were called to the Royal Inn in connection with a report of a man pointing a gun at another; police spotted a silver vehicle and began a chase down Shorter Avenue with county officers picking up the pursuit as it left the city limits.
The vehicle continued down Alabama Highway to Old River Road turned around and exited back on to Georgia 20.
It made contact with a Jeep near the entrance of Inland, left the roadway and crashed.
We do know the driver is deceased. However police would make no additional comments except to say the Georgia Bureau of Investigation has been called in, and are now handling the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
