On Thursday, afternoon a structure fire was reported to Floyd 9-1-1 dispatch by a neighbor in the area of Kingston Avenue near Wadell Street. The Rome/Floyd Fire Department and Rome City Police Department responded to the area, and blocked off the roads as the smoke poured out of the house.
According to the Fire Department, that blaze started – and remained – on the back end of the home. Thankfully, there was no one inside at the time.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
