Rome Man Arrested Following A Brief Foot Pursuit In Cedar Bluff

A Rome man was arrested after fleeing from Sheriff’s Office Investigators on Monday morning in Cedar Bluff.

Investigator Jeremy Stepps and Cedar Bluff Police Chief Steve Walden responded to the area of the State Boat Docks on Highway 68 near the Cobia Bridge to check on a suspicious person, they came in contact with 36 year old Richard Lee Hill who initially gave officers a false name.

When Walden and Stepps confronted him concerning his real name Hill ran on foot. Following a brief foot chase he was located and apprehended.

Hill who is originally from Florida but resides in Rome was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges of Assault in the 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Operations, Obstructing Justice/Giving False Information to Law Enforcement, Fleeing/Attempting to Elude and Disorderly Conduct.

He remains in jail on an $11,500 bond.
