Rome Man Arrested in Cherokee County Now Behind Bars in Floyd County

CCSO - KennamerA Rome man arrested here in Cherokee County following a high speed chase last month, is now facing charges in Floyd County, Georgia.

Jail reports state that Joseph Daniel Kennemer, of a Big Texas Valley Road address – was in possession of meth, cocaine and a semi-automatic weapon August 10th on Sike Story Road.

Kennemer was arrested later that day in Cherokee County, after leading officers on a chase when they tried to stop him and another man on what was called a routine traffic stop.

He’s now facing several charges including trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and unlawful possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

The man who was with him, 37 year-old Thomas Watson Smith, was booked into the Floyd County Jail after being extradited from Cherokee County last month.
