Rome Man Charged with Murder After Shooting Clerks at Two Separate Stores Within Minutes of Each Other

A 28 year old Rome resident is now in custody following back-to-back shooting incidents – one of which turned out to be deadly, in connection with a pair of convenience robberies on Tuesday night in Floyd County.

Floyd County Police officials stated Rashad Lamar Nicholson of a Redmond Circle address is accused of entering the Hi-Tech Fuel location at 500 Burnett Ferry Road just before 9:00pm with a firearm where he ended up shooting the clerk several times and the victim died from his wounds.  Just minutes later Nicholson reportedly went into Elm Street Food & Beverage at 204 North Elm, took money, and then shot the clerk.  That employee was transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Nicholson stands charged with Murder, Armed Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Assault, two counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
