Rome Man Injured When Struck by SUV at Goodwill Store

Rome - Goodwill

Rome resident Barry Steed continues to recover from the injuries he sustained over the weekend, when he was struck by an SUV in front of the Goodwill store on Hicks Drive.

Steed was reportedly unloading donations from his Toyota Tundra around 1:00pm Sunday when he was struck from behind by an unoccupied Toyota Highlander.

The driver of the Highlander, Brett Kennedy of Rome – had apparently pulled up to the donation point and left the SUV in drive when he got out to unload some items.

Steed, age 65, was caught between the two vehicles and suffered two broken legs in the mishap – he was taken from the scene to Floyd Medical Center, where he is listed in satisfactory condition.

No citations were issued in connection with the incident.
