A 24 year old Rome resident wanted on a Rape charge was taken into custody following a high speed chase along Highway 27 in Floyd County last Friday.
Polk County Police, along with Rome Police Officers, were in pursuit of a white truck driven by Cameron Kyle Ingram, when the crashed the vehicle through a fence line into a pasture – at that point, he bailed out and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody. The chase reached speeds of more than 100 mph before Ingram barreled through the fence on Doyle Road. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident – although a Polk County police cruiser did receive moderate damage during the chase.
Ingram is currently being held in the Floyd County Jail on the original charge of Rape – with additional charges p ending in regard to attempting to elude law enforcement.
