Rome Motorcycle Officer Involved in Collision Tuesday Morning

A Rome City Police motorcycle officer, David McGuire, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries after his motorcycle collided with an SUV in front of Walmart on Tuesday.  According to Sergeant Eric Tallent with the Georgia State Patrol, a red Jeep Grand Cherokee had pulled out of the parking lot at Walmart and stopped at the stop sign, before pulling out in front of the Rome Police motorcycle unit which was traveling south on Redmond Circle.

Sergeant Tallent stated it was a very low-speed collision and the officer was up and walking around when he arrived on the scene.  The driver of the Jeep was cited for failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign.

The Rome City Police Department posted a picture of Officer David McGuire following that accident, with the following caption:

“We would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers for our officer involved in the motorcycle wreck this morning! Officer McGuire is doing well and is expected to make a full recovery!”
