Rome Resident Jailed on Drug Charges

Rome - Brinkley, David MichaelA Rome resident was jailed on drug charges after law enforcement officials discovered suspected methamphetamine, along with scales, in his vehicle Friday night.

According to Floyd County Jail and Rome Police reports, 35 year old David Michael Brinkley of a Lavender Drive address, was arrested after authorities responded to an apartment complex after a report was called-in by a security guard.

The guard reported a suspicious person in a parked vehicle on the property.

Upon arrival officers spoke with Brinkley and according to reports they noticed a strong smell of alcohol and an open container of beer inside the car; a search of the vehicle turned up suspected methamphetamine, digital scales and some pills.

Brinkley was arrested at the scene on charges of Public Drunkenness.

At the jail he was additionally charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, the Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Sale, Distribution or Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Failure to Keep Drugs in Original Container and Possession and Use of Drug-related Objects.
