Rome police have identified a man shot on Reservation Street on Wednesday afternoon as 24-year-old Micah Anthony Wood.

An incident report released by the Rome Police Department described the shooter as a black male dressed all in black.

A witness said Wood has just been released from the Floyd County Jail and had come up on the witness’ porch and the two were drinking beer.

The witness said he went inside to check on his children and heard the gunshots. He saw the shooter running away from the residence towards Burnett Street and found Wood lying in the floor of his living room.

One of the bullets shattered glass on the storm door of the residence.

Wood was alert and talking to police when they arrived.

Floyd Medical Center officials said there was no public record of Wood at the hospital.
