Ronnie Whorton to Visit WEIS Radio Studios on Thursday Morning / UPDATED

Ronnie Whorton will join us on Thursday morning in the WEIS radio studios.

Whorton is part of the Cherokee County Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2014 which includes V.L. Crane from Gaylesville, Doug Palmer of Cedar Bluff, Sand Rock Coach Russell Jacoway – and Robert Thornton from Cherokee County High School.

Whorton will share stories from his high school days in Centre, and of playing college ball at the University of Alabama.  He will also share with us what he did to have his name engraved on a stadium wall next to New York Yankee legends Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig.

Ronnie was a multi-sport star at Cherokee County High School and he is the son of Charles and Carolyn Whorton.

The 10th Anniversary Class will be honored on Saturday at 6:00pm at the Gadsden State Arena in Centre.

Tickets are available at the Chamber of Commerce Office and at the Cherokee County Historical Museum.
