Rotary Club of Centre Collects More Than 6,500 Cans of Food for Those in Need This Holiday Season

The Rotary Club of Centre recently administered a Food Drive through the Cherokee County School system.  The drive resulted in approximately 6,500 cans – and $355 in cash – being collected and delivered to the Family Care Center.  All County schools participated in the drive this year.  Jay Prater, the JAG Instructor at Cherokee Career & Technology Center and all his students assisted with unloading and sorting food at the Family Care Center.

Gadsden State Cherokee also took part, and has extended their collection deadline to help gather as much food as possible this holiday season.

BELOW ARE THE NAMES OF TEACHERS OF THE CLASSES THAT COLLECTED THE MOST IN THEIR RESPECTIVE SCHOOLS.

Shannon Hood, Sand Rock School

Dana Mobley, Spring Garden School

Jessica Rathje, Centre Elementary School

Julie Graves, Cherokee County High School –

Patrick Lowe, Centre Middle School

Gail Williams, Gaylesville School

Jay Prater, Cherokee Co Career & Technology Ctr

We urge everyone to please take the time to gather items for this very important drive at this special time of year.  Donations can still be dropped off in the lobby of Gadsden State Cherokee located on the Cedar Bluff Road in Centre.
