Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests

A routine traffic stop recently conducted by DeKalb County Deputies resulted in two people being arrested on drug charges.

That stop was made at the intersection of County Roads 169 and 817 in Flat Rock.  After the officers confronted the occupants of the vehicle, they noticed both seemed to be nervous so at that point the K-9 Deputy brought K-9 Yogi from the patrol car to do an “open air” search around the vehicle – with the dog indicating a “hit”, meaning drugs were present.  A search of the vehicle turned up a black backpack containing syringes, digital scales, and a small container with a white substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, and 5.40 grams of meth inside.

According to the arrest report, 28 year old Whitney Nicole Boatner of Ider was found with a clear baggie of methamphetamine on her person; both she and John Allen Henson, age 53 of Huntsville, were taken into custody at the scene and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
