Coming off a 72-58 victory over Westbrook Christian on Tuesday night to clinch hosting the upcoming Class 2A, Area 12 basketball tournament, the Sand Rock Wildcats (14-3) moved up three spots to No. 7 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association rankings. The latest poll was released late Wednesday evening.

While the Wildcats moved up this week, two other area boys teams took a slight dip. Class 2A Spring Garden (12-5) slipped a spot to No. 9, and Class 3A Piedmont (5-5) dropped three places to No. 9.

There were no changes for area girls teams in the latest poll. Spring Garden (18-2) still comes in at No. 2 while Sand Rock (12-7) holds steady at No. 9 in the Class 2A girls rankings.

Class 4A Cherokee County (14-4) and Class 3A Collinsville (15-4) continue to receive consideration for the poll.
