Sand Rock finishes runner-up in Champions Academy volleyball tournament

ALEXANDRIA — The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats came in second at the Champions Academy volleyball tournament in Alexandria on Saturday. They went 4-2 for the day.

In pool play, Sand Rock defeated Oxford (25-17, 25-22) and Hokes Bluff (25-10, 25-8), then fell to New Hope (24-26, 20-25).

In tournament play, the Lady Wildcats (20-4) defeated Munford (25-14, 25-13) and Pleasant Valley (25-18, 26-24) in the semifinals. Sand Rock lost again to New Hope in the championship (25-21, 25-27, 11-15).

Katelyn St. Clair accumulated 57 kills, 40 digs and six aces for the day. McKenna Ballenger collected  139 assists, 30 digs and six aces. Caley Garrett posted 105 digs. Lanie Henderson contributed 54 kills and six blocks. Jacey Stephens had 23 kills and four blocks. Rylin St. Clair came away with 10 kills and three aces. Jadyn Foster managed 10 kills, 28 digs and four aces. Chloe Stephens finished with nine kills and 36 digs.

Sand Rock travels to Fyffe for a trimatch with Geraldine on Monday.
