Sand Rock girls fall short against Gadsden City

SAND ROCK – The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats opened the 2020-21 basketball season Tuesday night by hosting Class 7A Gadsden City, but fell short in a 56-53 loss.

Lanie Henderson led the Lady Wildcats (0-1) with 19 points, including three 3-pointers. She also grabbed four rebounds, dished out four assists, blocked a shot and had a steal. Caley Garrett added 15 points, six boards, four steals and two assists. Haley Grace Lisenbee contributed 11 points, four boards, four assists, a steal and a block. Maci Brown pulled down 12 rebounds and had a steal and a block. Katelyn St. Clair finished with four points, seven boards and an assist.

In the nightcap, Sand Rock’s boys dropped a 61-50 decision.

Cade Ballenger topped the Wildcats (0-1) with 16 points, eight assists and four steals. Garyn Sharpe added 11 points and six rebounds. Jacob St. Clair finished with 11 points and four steals.
 
Both Sand Rock teams host Glencoe on Monday night.
