SAND ROCK – While some high school football teams across the state are kicking things off for the 2021 season this week, others are getting that one last tune-up before the real action begins.

Five such teams are doing so at Sand Rock on Thursday evening.

The Wildcats are hosting a five-team jamboree. The other teams involved are Cedar Bluff, Spring Garden, North Sand Mountain and Plainview.

“The important thing is we’re going to be blocking, tackling and hitting and going up against somebody who’s not wearing maroon and white,” Sand Rock coach Alan Heath said.

Sand Rock and North Sand Mountain get things started at 5 p.m., followed by Spring Garden and North Sand Mountain at approximately 5:45 p.m. Spring Garden then battles Plainview’s A-team at 6:30 p.m. Cedar Bluff takes on Plainview’s A and B-teams close out the jamboree.

Tickets are $8 at the gate.
