Sand Rock secures state volleyball tournament berth

HUNTSVILLE — The Sand Rock Lady Wildcats clinched a Class 2A state tournament berth Wednesday in at the North Super Regional in Huntsville following sweeps of Pisgah and Mars Hill. 

The Lady Wildcats defeated Pisgah 25-17, 25-18, 25-9, then went on to beat Mars Hill 25-12, 25-15, 25-7 to improve to 47-8 on the season.

In the win over Pisgah, McKenna Ballenger posted 34 assists and 18 digs. Katelyn St. Clair collected 13 kills, a block, and an ace. Lanie Henderson contributed 11 kills and a pair of blocks. Jadyn Foster added nine kills and seven digs. Caley Garrett came away with 19 digs and an ace. Chloe Stephens managed four kills, a block, nine digs and four aces. Jacey Stephens finished with three kills, two blocks and four aces.

Against Mars Hill, Garrett posted 26 digs and an ace. Ballenger contributed 29 assists, five digs and an ace. Henderson had nine kills and seven blocks. Foster came away with nine kills and six digs. St. Clair collected eight kills, 10 digs and an ace. Jacey Stephens managed 6 kills and an ace, and Chloe Stephens had two kills, eight digs and an ace. Bethany Davis finished with three aces.

Sand Rock advances to face Addison in the regional semifinals on Thursday at 12:45 p.m. at the Von Braun Center.
