Sand Rock tumbles at Southeastern

REMLAP – Sand Rock sophomore quarterback Ace Ashley completed 19-of-32 pass attempts for 281 yards and a touchdown, but those numbers weren’t enough to lead the Wildcats past Southeastern. Sand Rock fell 20-7 in Class 2A, Region 6 football action on Friday night.

Olin Pruitt was Ashley’s top receiver. He caught eight passes for 152 yards, including a 72-yard touchdown grab with 9:38 left in the second quarter that gave Sand Rock (2-2, 1-2) a 7-0 lead.

Southeastern (3-1, 2-1) tied the game at 7 with 1:59 remaining in the first half on Kevin Juhola’s 2-yard touchdown run. It remained a tie game until the fourth quarter when Juhola scored on a 5-yard run. The extra point was no good, keeping the Mustang lead at 13-7. Jarrod Williams put the game away with 3:54 left in the fourth quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run for the final.

Juhola led the Mustangs with 107 yards on 19 carries with two scores. Noah McCray added 83 yards on 17 totes.

Colton Cash caught four passes for 60 yards for Sand Rock. Jacob Cornejo also had four receptions for 45 yards and seven tackles on defense. Ethan Clanton led the Wildcat defense with 12 stops.

Sand Rock hosts Collinsville next Friday.
