Sand Rock volleyball outlasts Spring Garden in five sets

SAND ROCK – Sand Rock and Spring Garden are no strangers to playing tightly-contested volleyball matches.

Thursday night was no exception.

The Lady Wildcats outlasted Spring Garden in a key Class 2A, Area 12 match 25-21, 23-25, 22-25, 25-20 and 15-9 to improve to 16-2 on the season.

McKenna Ballenger posted 62 assists for the Lady Wildcats. Lanie Henderson delivered 21 kills and five blocks. Caley Garrett came away with 57 digs. Katelyn St. Clair collected 13 kills, 13 digs and three blocks. Jacey Stephens contributed 12 kills. Chloe Stephens had 10 kills and 2 blocks, and Jadyn Foster finished with nine kills and 12 digs.

Abbey Steward managed 40 assists, a dig and an ace for Spring Garden (13-2). Neely Welsh posted 19 kills, four digs and an ace. Alle Jennings contributed 15 kills and a pair of aces. Suzie Carter came away with five kills, an assist and an ace. Maggie Jarrett had four kills. Tatum Page and Timi Scogin delivered a dig apiece. Scogin also had an ace.

Sand Rock plays in a tournament at Champions Academy in Alexandria on Saturday. Spring Garden plays in a tri-match with Cherokee County at White Plains on Monday.
