SATURDAY’S CHEROKEE COUNTY BOYS BASKETBALL INVITATIONAL ROUNDUP: Faith Christian outlasts Collinsville in overtime

SPRING GARDEN – Colton Pahman connected on a crucial 3-pointer in overtime, helping the Faith Christian Lions earn a 64-61 victory over Collinsville on Saturday.

Thomas Curlee led three Lions in double figures with 19 points. Ethan Richerzhagen netted 17 and Jacques Prater collected 15.

Demonde Bell scored seven points and Pahman finished with five points.

Alex Garcia led Collinsville with 28 points. Colton Wills added 15 points and Dawson Cothran finished with 11 points.

Collinsville led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Faith surged out to a 28-21 advantage at halftime. The Lions held a 35-31 edge heading into the fourth quarter, but Collinsville rallied to tie the game at 53 at the end of regulation.

Collinsville takes on Cedar Bluff on Monday at 10:30 a.m. Faith Christian battles Sand Rock at 1:30 p.m.

Haralson County 52, Gaylesville 40

SPRING GARDEN – Noah Rasmusson netted a game-high 21 points in leading the Haralson County Rebels to a 52-40 win over Gaylesville on Saturday.

Jayden Ross connected on three 3-pointers and had 11 points. Jacob Wood had a pair of treys and finished with eight points. Carson Ray contributed five points.

Kuper Bradley and Jacob Gordon topped the Trojans with nine points apiece. Bradley’s points came on three treys. Kyler Bradley added eight points and Hunter Penney finished with seven points.

Haralson County led 11-3 at the end of the first quarter and 16-10 at halftime. The Rebels held a 33-25 edge at the end of three quarters.

Haralson County plays Collinsville on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.

Scottsboro 71, Cherokee County 56

SPRING GARDEN – Tyler Sexton posted a game-high 30 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, in leading Scottsboro to a 71-56 win over Cherokee County on Saturday.

Parker Bell and Blake Jones both tossed in 11 points. Tyler Shelton finished with five points.

Jack Amos led Cherokee County with 17 points. Malachi Horton had 15 points. Jaden Wilson and Landon Caldwell both finished with eight points.

Scottsboro led at each of the quarter breaks. They held a 14-13 advantage at the end of the first quarter and built a 27-13 edge at halftime. Scottsboro led 54-37 after three quarters.

Scottsboro takes on Spring Garden on Monday at 7:30 p.m. Cherokee County battles Handley on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Handley 72, Sand Rock 50

SPRING GARDEN – Tamarious Treadwell tallied 20 points, including three 3-pointers, in leading the Handley Tigers to a 72-50 win over Sand Rock in a physical battle.

Tempers flared in the first half, which resulted in Handley’s Cannon Kyles to be ejected following an altercation with Sand Rock’s Brian Giles with 3:42 remaining in the second quarter. Sand Rock head coach John Blackwell was later ejected following his second technical foul with 1:36 remaining in the game.

Rondai Banks added 13 points for the Tigers. Jordan West tossed in 10 points. Kyles finished with six points.

Kaden Justice led the Wildcats with 14 points, including three treys. Logan Crider contributed 11 points. Bradley Jackson and Jacob Cornejo finished with eight and six points respectively.

Handley led 18-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Tigers extended their lead to 44-27 by halftime and 58-40 at the end of three quarters.

Sand Rock tangles with Faith Christian at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Handley takes on Cherokee County on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
