“Scandal,” “How to Get Away with Murder” and “Grey's Anatomy” Return Tonight

Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope on “Scandal”; ABC/Bob D’Amico (NEW YORK) — TGIT! Tonight marks the long-awaited return of our favorite Thursday-night Shondaland shows: Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, and Grey’s Anatomy — and the stars gave ABC Radio a preview of what’s on tap.

Scandal ended last season with the presidential election too close to call. When the show returns tonight, Bellamy Young says we won’t have to wait long for the results: “You find out who won, who lost, boom boom boom, yeah, and it’s a rather explosive moment as you can imagine, and no one will ever be the same.”

The show hasn’t aired a new episode since May, and fans are going crazy for new shows.  So is Kerry Washington, who says, “We’ve really missed it.”

Bellamy Young agrees: “Yeah, we feel it for ourselves. We’ve missed each other and we’ve missed our fans. We have the best fans in the world and we’ve missed them.”

So, what everyone been up to in the meantime? Kerry spent her hiatus working on a new project — her baby boy, who was born in October. With two kids now, she tells ABC that some of her best acting “has been acting as well-rested woman.”

When How to Get Away with Murder left off we learned that Alfred Enoch’s character, Wes, is dead. As for the chances of him coming back as a ghost, Enoch says the writers are “always mixing it up…so…You can’t rule anything out,” although he’d be “very surprised.”

As for what’s in store for the doctors and nurses at Grey Sloan Memorial? Grey’s Anatomy‘s Jesse Williams says they’ll be mixing things up, with much of the action taking place “outside of the hospital.”
