“Scandal” vet Joe Morton to co-star in CBS pilot, “God Befriended Me”

ABC Image Group/LATwo ABC alums are coming together for a godly project on CBS.

According to The Hollywood ReporterScandal‘s Joe Morton has joined The Mayor‘s Brandon Micheal Hall in Hall’s new CBS pilot, God Befriended Me.

The potential series, which is described as a “humorous and uplifting drama,” follows Hall’s character Miles, an outspoken atheist whose life changes dramatically when he is “friended” by God on Facebook. After his holy encounter, he helps to change the lives and destinies of others around him.

Morton will play Miles’ father, Rev. Arthur Finer, a “thoughtful and intelligent man” who has been the reverend of Trinity Church for the past 25 years. Although Finer doesn’t agree with his son’s atheism, he wants him in his life.

This will be be the first major project for Morton, post-Scandal. He recently played Cyborg’s father in Justice League.
