School Board Set To Vote On SRO Program At Their Tuesday October, 29 Meeting

The Cherokee County School Board is now one step closer to implementing a School Resource Officer Program.

During their Thursday meeting, Superintendent of Education Mitchell Guice made a presentation to the board and those in attendance outlining exact figures as requested at the previous meeting.

The board will hold a meeting on Tuesday October, 29 at 6:00 p.m. at which time they will vote on a recommendation from the Superintendent on a School Resource Officer Program.

The board also received some great news and a reward from their Cenergistic Energy Program, Steve Jones with Cenergistic made the presentation.

In other business, the board selected their delegates for the Alabama Association of School Boards Delegate Assembly. The board also approved a revised agreement with Ricoh for Cherokee County Career & Tech Center to be funded by the Energy Savings Budget.

The board also approved to declare a Xerox Audio Visual T1205105 as surplus property and approved a settlement agreement concerning a personnel issue and authorized the Superintendent to sign general release and settlement agreement.

A bid from Transportation South for three 2021 Type C school buses was also accepted, this was the only bid submitted.
