School Bus Driver Killed, Others Injured in Crash at Denver International Airport

iStock/Thinkstock(DENVER) — A bus driver is dead after a school bus veered off a road and slammed into a support bridge at Denver International Airport (DIA), according to police.

DIA police said at least 20 people were on board and traveling with the Legacy High School football team. It was not immediately clear how many children and adults were transported to area hospitals and their conditions were unknown, police said.

“The driver was pronounced deceased here at the scene and a number of adults that were on the bus, as well as high school-aged children that were on the bus, were also transported to nearby hospitals for treatment of injuries,” John White of the Denver Police said Sunday.

White said the female bus driver “accidentally drove their bus into a support of one of the bridges.”
