Second Arrest Made in Stolen Truck Case

A second arrest has now been made in connection with the theft of a truck from the parking lot of the Spring Garden General Store last Thursday (February 25th).

The vehicle was taken by two individuals while the owner was inside the store – according to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, one of the two – 22 year old Piedmont resident Jerry Downey – was located and taken into custody prior to midnight by Corporal Will Bailey and Deputy Logan Moore, with the stolen vehicle being recovered in the process.

Downey was charged with Receiving Stolen Property.

On Sunday 19 year old Cody Jeremiah Wright, also from Piedmont was arrested and charged with Theft of Property 1st Degree, with bond set at $5,000.
