Security Procedures Put in Place Following Threat at Floyd Medical Center

Floyd Medical Center spokesperson Haley Walker says extra security measures were put in place on Monday evening following a threat from an unidentified individual.

Hospital officials immediately instituted controlled access procedures – with police being posted at the entrances for the remainder of the evening.

Lt. John Walters with the Rome PD stated that the threat came from a member of the community who was unhappy with the hospital.

No incident ever actually occurred during the wake of the threat that was issued, and law enforcement officials say the facility is considered safe for all employees, patients and visitors.
