Severe Storms Possible For Our Area On Saturday

From Cherokee County EMA;

The National Weather Service in Birmingham says that there is a slight possibility for severe weather across Cherokee County on Saturday.

At this time a lot of uncertainty remains with the timing and potential impacts to our area but there is a very good chance we will see heavy rainfall, and possibly some severe thunderstorms.

The NWS describes this system as “Over-Powered”. So over powered that once it gets into Alabama and the atmospheric conditions begin to mix with the system it loses its potency.

There is a chance that once it starts losing steam, it will stall out, re-intensify, and become strong again. At this time we remain in the slight threat area but this could change as the system gets more active and organized

Stay weather aware throughout the day Saturday and make you have at least two ways to receive weather alerts.
