Severe Storms Possible Today Through Wednesday, Here Is The Latest Update

Two storm systems will affect our region today through Wednesday, creating a complex weather setup, with multiple rounds of showers and storms.  A more potent, possibly significant system on Wednesday may produce severe storms at various parts of the day and also during the overnight hours, hence the broad time frame.  Magnitude and timing will continue to come into better view as we get closer.

Changes from previous forecast: 

  • Today:Further modifications have been made to the threat timing and placement of severe storm chances today.
  • Tuesday:A severe threat has been added for Tuesday, as there’s sufficient ingredients remaining in place for a few severe storms at any time.
  • Wednesday:All of Central Alabama is now included in the Enhanced Risk area.

 

Where: 

  • Today: Northern and western counties of Central AL 
  • Tuesday: A vast majority of Central AL except for northwest counties
  • Wednesday:  All of Central Alabama

 

When: 

  • Today:  10am to 10pm
  • Tuesday: 3am to 6pm
  • Wednesday: Morning through night

Today:

  • Damaging winds up to 60mph
  • A brief tornado
  • Quarter-size hail

 

Tuesday:

  • Damaging winds up to 60mph
  • A brief tornado
  • Quarter-size hail

 

Wednesday:

  • Tornadoes
  • Damaging winds up to 60 mph
  • Golf ball-size hail
