This weekend is Alabama’s Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday – which allows shoppers to purchase, tax free, supplies costing up to $60 that every home needs to have on hand in the wake of a natural disaster or general emergency. That includes such items as batteries, weather radios, flashlights, first aid kits and more. Generators costing $1,000 or less can also be purchased free of the state’s 4% sales tax this Friday starting at 12:01am through midnight Sunday (February 23rd – 25th).
Many of Alabama’s local governments are adding their tax savings to the holiday as well – a list of those municipalities taking part has been posted below.
