Sexual Abuse Case of Former Etowah County CEO Will Go to Grand Jury

Simms 100The case against former Etowah County CEO Patrick Simms will be turned over to the next Chambers County Grand Jury – who reportedly waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday of this week.

Simms was named as a suspect in a case involving the sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12, which allegedly occurred on or around February 8th of this year (2015).

The Lafayette Sun reported that the mother of the child contacted law enforcement around that time, claiming that Simms had molested her child.

Simms surrendered to investigators in Chambers County on February 19th – where he was booked on that charge, and released on bond later that same day.

Simms attorney says he is simply the victim of a “witch hunt.”
