Sheriff Jeff Shaver Says Deputies Will Be Working Traffic Safety Overtime Through The Weekend

Law enforcement officers will be out in full force over this holiday travel period working traffic safety overtime throughout the weekend in an effort to make sure Cherokee County residents and those visiting have a safe Thanksgiving.

Deputies began working traffic safety overtime for this holiday period on Tuesday which has included patrolling and checkpoint. The funding for this extra traffic overtime is provided by a grant through Alabama Department of Economic Community Affairs.

Sheriff Shaver told WEIS Radio News that a deputy issued a citation to a motorist traveling 151 MPH on Alabama Highway 35 on Wednesday morning.
