The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has informed WEIS Radio that another scam is making the rounds in Cherokee County. Someone has been calling residents saying they are from the Sheriff’s Office and demanding money to avoid arrest.
Chief Investigator Josh Summerford says that it’s a scam that’s occurred in other counties before. Don’t be a victim of this scam and as we have told numerous times, never ever send money to anyone without proper verification.
Sheriff Shaver says that the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office would never call demanding money to avoid an arrest.
