Sheriff’s Office Visits Children as Part of the “So Cool” Program in Cherokee County

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver

The students at Centre Elementary School got a pleasant surprise recently – when Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and several Sheriff’s Office Investigators stopped by as part of the “So-Cool” program.

The students learned about the dangers associated with different types of illegal drugs, and Keelo, the Sheriff’s Office Canine, provided a demonstration for the kids.

The program, which provides a large number of children with an array of activities over the summer months, is sponsored by the Centre Rotary Club – in conjunction with the Cherokee County Commission, the City of Centre and CED Mental Health among others.

Sheriff Shaver also thanked Nancy Steed for the invitation to educate, and interact, with the children; he also commended the effort she puts forth for the “So-Cool” program.
