Six Cherokee County Heroes Receive The Prestigious Lifesaver Award

IMG_1814In 1980 Willie Nelson wrote a song that said “My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys”, if Willie had ever meet Cherokee County’s First Responders he may have changed that tune.

Six of Cherokee County’s Heroes were honored on Monday night with the prestigious Lifesaver Award after their heroic actions in saving the life of a woman after her vehicle left Highway 9 near Blackwell’s Crossroads and flipped upside down in the lake – Centre Mayor Tony Wilkie was among those that spoke during the ceremony –

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver also shared his appreciation to these brave men-

The victim of that accident, Kayla Silver of Leesburg was present at the ceremony as each of six men that saved her life were honored.
