Six Year Old Girl Attacked by Pit Bull in Cedar Bluff

A young child was the victim of a Pit Bull attack in Cedar Bluff just after 7:00pm Tuesday.

According the Cedar Bluff Police Department incident report, a six year old girl was petting the dog, when it suddenly attacked – leaving the child with bites to the face, arms and legs.

The girl’s mother managed to get the dog away from her but not before being bitten herself on the right hand and right calf.

The Pit Bull apparently belongs to the owner of the property where the incident occurred on County Road 44; the woman and child were apparently tenants of the residence.

The six year old was rushed to Cherokee Medical Center for treatment on non-life threatening injuries.

Cherokee County Animal Control Officer Dustin Dutton informed the owner that the dog would have to be quarantined for a period of 10 days.

It’s unclear at this point if any charges will be filed in connection with the incident.

The investigation into the matter is on-going.
