Snead State Community College Campuses to be Closed Monday, October 19th Following Threat

Snead State 1Snead State Community College has announced that it is cancelling classes Monday due to a threat of a shooting that was posted online; school officials are saying they haven’t received any new information regarding whether that threat is credible or not; but they’ve made the decision to close all the campuses of Snead State Community College Monday, October 19th

According to a statement issued by the school the FBI and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are investigating the threat.

Birmingham police notified the school on Wednesday, of the on-line threat that was posted on an anonymous message board.

That threat reportedly read as follows, “R.I.P. to all the people that died in the Snead State Community College shooting in Alabama on 10/19/15.”

According to the school, Birmingham police’s criminal intelligence unit told the school the threat showed up through the work of an area “Fusion Center,” which notifies authorities of on-line threats. At that point, investigators notified the Director of Security at the school.

The threat remains under investigation.
