A few snow flurries have been reported across north Alabama this morning with some light snow coming down in Rosalie and Section in Jackson County as well as Powell’s Crossroads and Sand Mountain in DeKalb County. As the clouds move out later today – the sun will bring highs across the northern portion of that state, only reaching the low 40’s.
There may be another slight chance for snow in the immediate future.
A cold front is expected over the weekend, but as of Thursday morning, those models were trending drier and little to no rain or winter precipitation is expected – BUT, another storm system is expected to reach Alabama Monday night – and that’ll be the one to watch. It’ll bring a strong cold front through the state and there may be enough cold air behind the front and enough leftover moisture to produce some winter precipitation on Tuesday.
We’ll keep a watch on the weather situation between now and then – of course, it’s still too early to know exactly what next Tuesday holds in store at this point.
