Southside Police Chief Arrested By His Own Officers On A Public Intoxication Charge

(ABC 33/40) – Southside Police Chief Chris Jones was arrested on Saturday and charged with public intoxication.

Jones was arrested by his own officers after allegedly acting belligerent towards another person while off-duty. He was released from the Etowah County Jail on a $500 bond.

Jones who has served as police chief since August 2011 has been on medical leave.

Cpt. Blake Ragsdale has been serving as acting chief since Jones went on leave. Ragsdale did not give an official comment on the arrest.
