Spurs to Retire Tim Duncan's Number

J Pat Carter/Getty Images(SAN ANTONIO) — The San Antonio Spurs announced on Wednesday they will retire Tim Duncan’s No. 21 jersey on Dec. 18 against the New Orelans Pelicans.

The Wake Forest product, who retired in July, spent 19 seasons in the NBA, all with the Spurs. He was a five-time NBA champion and was named Finals MVP twice. He won two regular season MVP awards, NBA Rookie of the Year, was named All-NBA-First-Team 10 times and appeared in 15 All-Star Games.

Drafted by the Spurs in 1997, Duncan helped San Antonio to a 1,072-438 regular-season record in that time, which is the best 19-year stretch in the history of the NBA. He finished his career 14th all-time in points (26,496), sixth in rebounds (15,091) and fifth in blocks (3,020).
