State Senator Andrew Jones says that the work of many involved, including himself and State Representative Ginny Shaver, the Alabama Department of Revenue has reversed course and agreed to grant sales tax exemption to Floyd-Cherokee Medical Center.
Senator Jones said “As a non-profit hospital, it should have been common sense that Cherokee County’s sole hospital was exempt by law from paying sales tax and Wednesday’s decision clarifies that.”
Jones went on to say that although we face an ongoing rural healthcare crisis in Alabama, Floyd-Cherokee Medical Center is an example of how hospitals can continue to flourish in rural Alabama.
