State Senator Phil Williams Presents Cherokee County School Board With $4,000 Grant Check

State Senator Phil Williams was in attendance during Tuesday’s meeting of the Cherokee County Board of Education – Senator Williams presented the board with a $4,000 check to be distributed throughout the school system.

An additional $500 was also allotted for Centre Middle School to be used for library supplies.

In other business the board approved an agreement with Cedar Bluff School and the Buffalo Rock Company and also adopted a resolution in support of Amendment 4.

In Personnel Action taken by the board Retirements were accepted for Cecelia Flora, Special Education Paraprofessional at Centre Elementary School, and Nam Latham Special Education Teacher County wide for over 26 years.

Certified Transfers by Agreement included, Pam Gossett from 8th grade History Teacher at Centre Middle School to Special Education at Centre Middle School.

Certified Placements were Amanda Jennings – Payroll Clerk/Employee Services.

Classified Transfers by Agreement – Shelly East from School Nurse at Centre Elementary School to School Nurse at Sand Rock and Bridgett Beukens from School Nurse at Sand Rock to Nurse at Centre Elementary.
A change was made in Supplements at Sand Rock School removing Sarah Battles from cleaning basketball gym/restrooms at a cost of $1,040.00 to be replaced by Tim Hartman at the same cost.

The next meeting of the Cherokee County Board Of Education is set for Thursday, November 6, at 6:00pm at the Central Office on Main Street in Centre.
